Davy Crockett National Forest
Description
The Davy Crockett National Forest’s 160,000 acres of woodlands, streams, recreation areas, and wildlife habitat offer opportunities for a variety of outdoor experiences, including recreation on the 4 C’s National Recreation Trail, Big Slough Wilderness Area, Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area, and Alabama Creek Wildlife Management Area. The Davy Crockett National Forest also hosts the Piney Creek Horse Trail and permits dispersed camping throughout the forest except during the fall deer hunting season.
Amenities: Hiking, biking, paddling, camping, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, bird watching, wildlife viewing. Camping is limited to established recreation areas and 20 designated hunter camps during deer season.
