Alazan Bayou Wildlife Management Area
Description
The Alazan Bayou WMA preserves 2,063 acres of mature bottomland hardwood forests along the Angelina River. Loco Bayou and Moral Creek wind their way through the area to the river. The tremendous biological diversity of bottomland forests come from the water and rich nutrients deposited during floods as the river and bayous overbank from mid-winter to early spring.
Amenities: primitive leave-no-trace camping at designated campsites.
Location: 8096 FM 2782, Nacogdoches, TX 75964
Directions: Alazan Bayou WMA is located north of Houston about 140 miles. The WMA is located approximately 6.2 miles south of Nacogdoches off of highway 59. Go west on FM 2782 approximately 1.1 miles to the WMA. There are three entrances along FM 2782 with information/registration stations.
